Images of Soul guestbook

"Tell me what you long for and I'll tell you who you are."

When Jungian Analyst and Imaginal Psychologist, James Hillman, quotes the Romantics, he describes the central metaphor at the core of my astrological consultations. Clues to what we long for, what we imagine, the "who you are" that Hillman refers to, may all be found in what I see as the kaleidoscope of our earliest imaginings: the astrological horoscope.

Why encourage imagination in the astrological setting? In my 25 years as an astrological consultant and depth psychotherapist, I have found images invaluable in helping to describe and highlight my client's life transitions, psychological processes, spiritual concerns, and patterns of destiny. IN SHORT, IMAGES SPEAK DIRECTLY TO THE SOUL.

Carl Jung demonstrated and conceptualized throughout his life's work that "image is psyche." The horoscope, an in depth symbolic map of the psyche (the Greek word for soul), is, I believe, an ideal source for locating, uncovering, and evoking the psyche or soul's images. Did you know that both psyche and horoscope produce images as their primary product, and that both partake of the same imaginal ground? Simply put, image = psyche = horoscope.

It is the combination of this threesome which I see as the source of the astropsychological IMAGES OF SOUL. Through the process of exploring those IMAGES OF SOUL which may arise during an astrological consultation I help my clients explore and discover "who" they are.

In my role as imaginal astrological consultant, and trained therapist, I guide the client to the images of his or her uniqueness. We then explore together those figures and fantasies within the client's images and longings that often point the way to their soul's "calling."

Does this imaginative astrological approach mean that my consultations lack more conventional astrological techniques such as the discussion and timing of everyday affairs, complete with the use of Transits, Progressions, Solar Returns, Archetypal and Mythological Motifs, personal and transpersonal concerns? Not at all. It simply means that I also amplify all of these traditional approaches by invoking, incorporating, and helping to give birth to those IMAGES OF SOUL which often present themselves during an astrological consultation.
